Family & Children's Medicaid Purpose To pay medical bills for eligible low income families who can't afford the cost of health care. EligibilityThere are several different Medicaid programs with different requirements, including:
Certain income tests apply for each Medicaid program. If your income or asset level is above the levels that qualify you for Medicaid, you can apply for North Carolina Health Choice for Children (NCHC). NCHC also provides health insurance for children age 6 to age 19. NCHC has income levels up to 200% of the Federal Poverty level and provides a full package of health care benefits for children age 6 through age 18. Application ProcedureYou may apply in person at our office (1966-H Morganton Boulevard in Lenoir). The office hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
