Case Management
Purpose
Case management services, previously called "treatment services," are provided to families where abuse, neglect, and/or dependency has been confirmed to have occurred with reference to the minor child(ren) in the home. A social worker is assigned to assist the family in developing a plan for addressing the problem areas, and to require participation in activities which will hopefully enhance parenting skills while also expanding their support system. It is our mission to keep families together.
Eligibility
Families where abuse, neglect, and/or dependency has been confirmed to have occurred with reference to the minor child(ren) in the home.
Special Information
Multiple resources and referrals are provided such as assessments, counseling, classes, therapy, hospitalization, support programs, discipline technique demonstrations, family preservation, and transportation. When families are able to accomplish the goals as defined in their plan, cases can be closed. When families are unable to protect their children from abuse, neglect, or dependency, children must be removed from the home environment. Extensive efforts are made to help families make placement with relatives or friends of the family before children are placed in Foster Care. When the Department of Social Services is forced to take custody of children for their protection, visitation and reunification efforts with the parents are begun immediately.
Referral Procedure
Referrals come from a substantiated report from a Child Protective Services (CPS) investigation worker in which it is decided, based on allegations and information gathered from the investigation, that services are needed with the family to work on certain issues.
